New Paragraph
For more than 11 years, Dr. Barron has worked with children, adolescents, and young adults who have struggled with academic, attentional, behavioral, cognitive, and/or socioemotional difficulties.
Newport Neuro consists of leading clinical psychologists who provide the gold standard
in diagnostic assessment and intervention planning.
Dr. Barron is an experienced clinical psychologist with a demonstrated history in neuropsychological assessment. She is highly skilled in the area of neurodevelopmental and psychoeducational evaluations and has proficiency in clinical intervention and early childhood education services.

Cognitive development is not always a sequential process. A students ability to manage traditional classroom requirements can be improved by integrating and optimizing each system to work more efficiently.
Recommendations, including individualized educational accommodations, allow a student to complete the same tasks as their peers but with some variation in time, format, setting, and/or presentation. Evidence-based practices are informed by objective evidence from educational metrics and student performance.
Dr. Talia Barron is a Clinical Psychologist licensed both in the state of Rhode Island and in the state of Florida. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida, and her Master's and Doctoral degrees from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Barron utilizes a methodological approach to formulate her integrated evaluations. Referrals commonly include concerns pertaining to academic readiness, attention and concentration difficulties, behavioral concerns, developmental delays, giftedness/IQ testing, intellectual developmental disorders, mood disorders, and specific learning disorders. Dr. Barron’s specific feedback aids in diagnostic clarification, and includes remedial and prescriptive recommendations that are provided to best meet the needs of individuals in the home and in educational and occupational environments.
Dr. Barron has diverse experience delivering many of the evidence-based interventions she recommends. She has training in early intervention, parent-child, parent-teen, and group interventions for individuals presenting with emotional and behavioral concerns. She has also conducted numerous social skills groups in community-based and educational treatment settings. In addition to her practical experience, Dr. Barron has taught graduate courses in intervention, integrated report writing, and social and cultural foundations of counseling, and has supervised others conducting evaluations, individual and group therapy, and in case management.
In her free time, Dr. Barron enjoys coaching softball with Newport Little League, playing club volleyball, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Austin, and her loyal canine companion, Ragnar.
Ragnar is also Dr. Barron's AKC-CGC certified therapy dog. He is a 3-year-old Goldendoodle who loves children and people of all ages, and aids in comfort during all intake and assessment-related appointments.
Newport Neuro operates utilizing an empirically-based construct for examining and analyzing consistencies between cognitive and learning abilities.
Every aspect of a child's life is affected by their executive functioning skills, including their cognitive abilities, their academic performance, and even their behavior and social skills. Executive functioning can be viewed as skills that indicate one's maturation in managing his or her own behavior.
It is important to understand that attention deficits look different in different people and at different ages.
Accumulating basic information about the world and culture a child grows up in, assuming a child has had educational opportunities and adequate exposure to a culture’s traditional norms, is seen as a sound indicator of long-term memory.
Fluid reasoning refers to the capacity to solve complex problems and reason rationally. In other words, it is the ability to analyze novel problems, identify patterns and relationships underpinning them, and extrapolate them based on logic.
Auditory processing skills are related to phonological awareness. That is, one's ability to discriminate, analyze, and synthesize auditory stimuli.
The ability to store information efficiently and retrieve it later through association.
The ability to hold information in immediate awareness and then use it within a few seconds, also related to working memory.
Weaknesses in fine motor control, positioning in space, and coordination of the afferent nerves in the hand are all required for the development of fine motor skills. Fine motor weaknesses translate to difficulties in handwriting, avoidance of writing activities, or becoming easily fatigued when tasks are loaded with writing demands.
The speed and efficiency in performing automatic or very simple cognitive tasks.
Visual spatial reasoning incorporates the the ability to analyze and synthesize visual stimuli. Measures of nonverbal reasoning require an awareness of one's orientation in space, and the ability to hold and manipulate mental images to create meaning.
Included in the evaluation battery are measurements of acquired knowledge in reading, comprehension, applied mathematics, written composition, and educational fluency. Acquired knowledge mastery is modulated by each of these precursory skills, and a student's achievement is directly associated with their pattern of strengths and weaknesses.
